Sorry I'm not being Productive....

Postby Kajsa » Thu Jan 21, 2010 12:50 pm

I am getting a computer upgrade, so I have some downloading/installing/configuring/etc to do. :halo: I might have to start a new legacy though. That will be sad, but I've learned a lot during my current one (like my first generation will have a chef for the career reward is so necessary!!!!) and am kind of excited to start over to be honest. It was never the same after I had to uninstall/reinstall the neighborhood.

This computer isn't stable yet. We got some bad memory so have to make an exchange.

Anyway, I am still around just not getting a lot done because I am focused on this. I thought I would make my new signature, then I remembered I don't have any of my usual resources. So I'm still naked!

Anyway, just breezing through. Take care all!

Keep posting about progress Kaj....I hope your upgrade goes well. I hate changing anything in my comp...the chaos is always just a little bit of too much.

And if you start a new Legacy pictures would be wonderful :)

Had to order a new fan for the old processor (it will become my husband's new computer) So now we are sharing the new one. Then we will do the memory exchange and share the other. At least he is on 12-hour shifts! :)

He's really doing this to get ready for Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. The most taxing thing we do these days is the Create a World. I might try out Star Wars too, even though I've been over playing MMOs for a while. Who knows. :)

Thinking about getting High-End Loft Stuff, mostly for the clothes... wish they would put out a thing showing exactly what's in it!

I was sleepless last night and I came up with an idea for my new legacy. I'm going to start with the letter A and go through the alphabet. So the first generation will have A names and their kids will have B names and their grand kids will have C names and so on. :) I can keep better track of what generation I am on and have some variety too. If by chance I ever make it to Z, ( ) I'll be done... Or start over at A, because if I make it that far, I will be very attached!!

Then I pondered legacy traits. I might go with eye color this time. Still not sure about that. It's going to be a little longer til the memory is exchanged. The cooler for the old CPU is due today and the return on the memory is authorized, so hopefully about another week.

I love the idea Kaj and I can't wait to see pics...you make lovely Sims :)

I think I need to bite the bullet and patch my base game so I can start downloading things again. I've been getting the urge to decorate a house again. :puppy:

Kajsa I hope everything runs fine with the computer. I have been so busy too - sorry everybody that missed a livesign - now my work has ended and I hope to be much less busy and find more time. OM this would be great if you'll show some pics from some decorations

Juli, I definitely missed a livesign from you but don't apologize...real life takes us all away from time to time. I'm glad to hear that you're going to have more time for our little world here. I would love to see some more of your designs and also to hear more about what you've been up to. :)

The memory exchange is complete, and the end is in sight. My husband is also back to more civilized workload, so I think it won't take too long! :)

I'm glad to hear this good news Kaj. I finally had the chance to download everything I want and put it in my game. I have all your patterns in now and I have to tell you they're wonderful. The "old" look patterns you've made are classics that belong in everyone's game IMO. Just looking at them has made me feel inspired to decorate again...and I'm not just saying that to say it. Between you and a couple of items I've seen around the 'net I think I may have to patch up and make a house or at least a few rooms.

Oh it is really really quiet in here. Everybody fine? Well I am searching a new job and got lots to do and think about my mother. She became so fast so very old and ill now, had a hard operation lately. It would be time for her to go but she is not the person to go. This all makes me not very communicative - sometimes I spend some time with the Sims - but not really inspired and creative. I have different houses in progress, don't know when I finally finish them. I have also some cc now from Jope and Funny f.e. which is very nice to play with.

What are you all up to? How is creating with the new hints of Heidi OM?

Hey Juli. Sorry to hear that you're going through a rough time. :squeeze: It's hard to watch our loved ones struggling.

The new computer memory wasn't right either (never buy OCZ!) so I am still in limbo on the computer front. If I had never taken off all the data from the hard drive I am on now, I'd still have everything I need to play and be creative but I'm just playing the waiting game instead.

It has been quiet. Perhaps the predictable outcome of us once again being fractured into people who play the new game and people who play the old one.

Juli, I'm so sorry to hear that your mom is ill and that you're feeling not communicative as a result. I can sympathize with feeling that way about a sick loved one. I wasn't even related to TM and I feel like I'm still missing her and missing her so it must be even worse for you.

I'm still struggling with trying to make things for Sims 3 since every single object feels like I'm fighting with the game just to get something in that looks nice. It's slow going but I'm optimistic...lol.

Kaj...my sympathy to you too...computer issues are so frustrating. How long are you thinking the waiting game is going to last?

Ugh, I don't know how long it will take. Forever?? lol :) I think the memory should be on its way back to me by now. I haven't checked my husband's email for tracking lately.

Yes, it’s funny how the activity level here tends to go up and down. But it’s reassuring to know that despite the long silences we’re all still here somewhere.

Juli, I’m sorry to hear about your mother. :squeeze: It’s tough to see somebody that close withering away. It sometimes creates this strange ‘double’ feeling. On one hand you want them to have peace. On the other you want to keep them with you just a little bit longer. At least that’s how I felt when a close aunt was dying of cancer some years back.

Kajsa, that is some saga of computer issues you’ve ended up in. It must be terribly frustrating. I hope you soon get what you need to your game and creativity going again.

OM, I think you’re very brave to throw yourself into creating for Sims 3. Everything I hear about it makes is sound so complicated that I don’t know if I’d dare take that up myself.

I saw you’ve begun uploading your creations to MTS. I’ve recently submitted a few things (Sims 2, of course) there too. It feels good to get the feedback of all the moderators, other creators and downloaders over there – not to mention finally being able to give something back to a site that has pretty much taught me everything I know about object creation.

Out of town in April *and* starting a new job...sounds like life is being interesting for you Kaj :) Whatcha going to be up to?

I've learned a new trick for making Sims 3 meshes...well a couple of new tricks...and other than that it's just work and working on my house as usual. Nothing as exciting as your post...lol. Then again, the last time I went out of town I almost got stranded someplace very cold and extremely snowy so I'm happy to be here where it's at least moderately not-cold. But if you're going someplace fun and interesting I'd love to hear about it.

Posting from the new computer. YAY!

We're doing Spring Break in Florida with the kids. Daytona Beach & Orlando. I'll get to see a lot of friends I left behind when I moved 13 years ago.

I'm going to be doing administrative work at my church. Deposits, bill-paying, appointment setting, travel arranging, etc. :)

W00-hoo...from the new comp...you go Kaj! :)

The vacation sounds great...I hope you have fun. And the job sounds wonderful too...doing good work in a good atmosphere...if you pick up any travel-arranging tips I hope you'll post them...travel arranging can be painful and expensive if you don't know what you're doing.

Kaj this sounds great - changing places is always a good soulfood!

Here it is still the same, it is some bizarre process of getting more ill and mad for my mum but she is still not ready to say goodbye. Spring is coming up finally, this was the longest hardest winter since decades here in Germany - I think I should move southwards :D

Being a bit more productive at least in building housese - here is a preview of one coming up the next weeks (it is in the final fiddlings process)

Timmerman (if you hopefully read this) I lost your mailadress - I can't find you in my postaccount - thanks again for testing, also the park will be online the next weeks.

We had a great vacation. Spent 3 days on the beaches in Florida and few days doing various sightseeing including Disney World. :D

Now I am in my second week of my new job. Things are going well there but Melody and I are still adjusting to waking up early!!

Hi juli, course I read this. I hardly ever post but I do read and try to keep up. Our weather here in the south of holland is also getting better, we finally have sun every day and I can get out into my garden again. Our winter was also very very harsh this year and I hate the cold. I love sitting in my garden and pottering about and am so glad that most of my plants survived (even my little palm tree that I have to make me think I am in some exotic warm country). Your new house looks great and I still use your park all the time. (I have downloaded new worlds and use it there aswell).
If you need another tester I am always available :) :) and can be reached at timmer_man2003atYahoo.com

Kajsa, your kids are really beautiful and I am soooo jealous of your holiday, you all look so warm and sunny and healthy.

All we can do here is hope that not too much ash falls on us and hope for a really warm summer, I know I need it.

Hugs to all.

Again your beautiful children - thanks for showing - I so adore them. Sounds you had a lot of fun!

Timmerman great you saw the post. If you like I send you the house, though I think it is alright to use. But I tested it only for two simsdays, then I deleted that game (I got confused - too many different games - lol ).

Yes that winter freezed my bones to death. I know from Jolantha (Sorceress) that it was also so cold in the Netherlands. Finally it seems really to be spring now, there are warmer days in a row now, though the mornings are still cold. But it is adorable at the moment. The lilac came already - it seems now the flowers are in the moment in a big hurry to blossom.

I am glad you use the park, my travellers family uses him too though they are most of their lives travelling. This was only my test game but now this is my main family to play with. They have now 3 houses in every country and it's fun. I think we did now most of the adventures at France but in China and Egypt there is still much more to do. EA did a great job with world adventures, really. Saw the first mummy lately - don't like them, glad they are so slow!

Great pic Kaj. I'm jealous of your holiday too...it sounds like a great time was had by all :)

The winter here was horrible too...long and very cold. About the only ones who appreciated it were my roses since they like a good cold winter and hardly ever get what they want...lol. But now it's finally warm and I've been trying to get my yard in order. It's been raining a lot and the weeds are going berserk.

I think that many gardeners will miss their roses for this year if they haven't done the right preparations. Roses love a bit of cold, but not too much.

Now the forsythia and the lilac blossom together, this is quite rare, the forsythia (which is a quite unremarkable bush except being completely yellow of blossoms in early spring) normally blossom long before. It is so nice. And the sun is shining - I already had some wonderful hours absorbing sunshine - feeling like a dried sponge absorbing water - lol.
