Download: Special JS recolors with OM's pretty fabrics

Postby moune999 » Tue Jan 12, 2010 7:13 am

I can't figure out how to edit the first post in my previous thread about this set, so I'm going to make a new one.

I've just released a new outdoor living set that was giving me terrible texture problems until OM pointed me in the right direction. She also let me use some of her own pretty fabrics and once I started looking at them all the textures quickly fell into place. Here's what came of it - The Melaka Outdoor Living:

Image

In the end I didn't use OM's fabrics for the meshes, but instead turned them into two special JS recolors that you can download below. You'll have to get the meshes - and the regular recolors - at my site (Moune's Neighbourhood), but these two recolors can only be found here:

Included are recolors of the repository group containing sofa, loveseat, chair, recliner and canopy and of the 3 Amali cushions.

OM, once again thank you very much for helping me out here. You're simply a star. :D

OMG Moune...these are absolutely amazingly beautiful. No thanks needed...the artistry is all yours and this set (and recolors at your site) is complete eye-candy...the color is so vibrant it jumps off the page. Thanks so much for sharing these wonderful gifts here. *You're* the star.

P.S. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see you meshing again. I'm glad your time crunch and energy level have improved to allow you to do so. :)

Thanks very much for those sweet words. Kind of think it's one of the best sets I've made, so I'm really glad you all like it. :)

OM, I would probably still be wrestling with those textures if you hadn't given me a pointer. Sometimes the smallest clues can be the most important.

And it was really nice to finally use SimPE for something else than fixing GUID conflicts or locating orphaned recolors. I'm now wondering if I could make a bedroom or a dining set in the same style ...

I’m in the process of adding to this set – or rather making new matching sets using the same textures as this one.

First one up is this bedroom that I’ve just uploaded.

Image

The whole set is a slave of the original Melaka Outdoor Living Set, which means that if you go and download the new bedroom meshes on my site, the Special JS Recolors made with OM’s pretty fabrics work on them too. The Special JS Recolors are in the first post of this thread and on the new beds they look like this:

Image

Actually, the Special JS Recolors only pertain to the canopies on the beds. You’ll have to download the matching bedding separately here:

Download Special JS Matching Bedding

Hope you’ll like this new set. Next up is a matching kitchen and then a dining room.

Ooooo, more gorgeousness from you!

Thank you so much for sharing!

Looking forward to seeing more updates to this set....

(And I haven´t forgotten my promise to show my excellent recolouring-tutor some more of my recolours, but a bout of bad health has put a temporary damper on things in that department.)

These are all so absolutely gorgeous! If I were to shop for a new bedroom set in RL, I would search for something identical to this, in every way. It is perfect. The deep richness of the wood and the luxuriousness of the fabric make it especially delicious. Of course, the outdoor set also fails to disappoint.

All the recolours are gorgeous, and I came here for the JS recolours after discovering the superb sets at Moune's Neighborhood. I think, though, that the original fabric has to be my favorite. It speaks to me of far away places and abundant luxury. What is that faint and heady perfume?

Thank you so much for another wonderful set. I love everything you have done, and I appreciate very much your hard work.

Centime and SallySpaceborn, thank you very much for those very sweet words. :kissme: I'm quite fond of this style/theme myself, so it is really nice to know that others like it too.

The next Melaka set is done. It's the kitchen, and it turned out like this:

Image

It is again repository, but this time with the counter as master object (except for the stove, hood and plates). The Special JS Recolors in the first post of this thread work on the stool, though, like this:

Image

Hope you can find some uses for this in your games.

And Sally, I was wondering what happened to you. I'm very sorry to hear that is was health problems that kept you from showing off your recolors. I hope you'll be back on your feet soon and am still looking forward to seeing more of your work. :squeeze:

Moune, the set is lovely...the chairs are adorable :) All the detail in the cabinetry is wonderful. I'm almost tempted to take up Sims 2 again looking at this. Thank you so much for posting the pics here...I don't get around to any Sims site as much as I used to since Sims 3 takes up all my time...lol. But I wouldn't have wanted to miss your beautiful work.

Again, Moune, I want to thank you - and profusely - for another excellent addition to this gorgeous set. I just love it when you get busy simming! There is something especially satisfying about filling an entire home with furnishings in the same style and colours.

This is a real treat for me. Thank you so much! :squeeze:

I'm positively blushing here. You are really all much too kind. But as always it's such a pleasure to come up with something that others like to have in their game too, and I promise I'll keep the Melaka series moving as quickly as I can.

OM, are you mostly playing or creating for Sims 3? I seem to have periods where I only create, followed by periods where I only play, and then back to only creating. For some strange reason I can't seem to do both at the same time. :snicker:

I've been only creating lately...or I guess I should say struggling to create. Sims 3 is a little rough. It takes awhile to get something into the game...especially if you've got other things to do in life that cause interruption. There's a lot of pieces/parts to every object that you need to keep straight.

I've never been much of a player but sometimes I do get a craving to build a house and decorate it...or at least decorate a house...lol. But right now...pretty much absorbed with making things.

Have you given any thought to creating for S3? Your imaginative eye and creative hand would be wonderful to see in S3 :)

I know exactly what you mean. That sudden craving to build and decorate a house - or at least decorate one. I'm not much of an architect, so I prefer it when others put up the walls and windows and leave it up to me to place the furniture.

I don't think I'll get into creating for Sims 3 anytime soon (and thanks for those kind words  ). Mostly because I still quite like Sims 2 and I feel I've finally reached a stage where I am able to make some really cool stuff.

Also, creating for Sims 3 sounds awfully complicated. I definitely admire you for digging into it, and Sims 3 players are lucky that you do. You are really good at making stuff that goes far beyond the boring, boxy modern stuff that there has always been so much of - especially at the early stages of the games. :!:

Sorry about the double post, but I just wanted to say that I've just put another Melaka set up. It's a dining room and it looks like this:

Image

Everything is repository from previous sets, and the special JS recolors from the first thread work on the dining chair that look like this:

Image

I still have a Melaka Nursery and Bathroom planned, but I'm going to take a little break from the series to do a somewhat different set for MTS2.

Hope it will look good in your games.

This is gorgeous Moune...I can only wish for things this lovely in S3. Part of the issue there, of course, is the CAS issue. The object creator ends up with these repeating patterns all over everything and loses control over the texture.

I've been working on paintings that avoid this problem and plan on making other objects that have a more detailed and creative texture. I get sick and tired of everything matching perfectly and objects having no texture detail. In my game, at least, I'm gonna fix that one object at a time.

If others don't care for that...well...then no one will download my things I suppose <shrug>. The good thing is, that at least s3 offers the option of adding lots of new choices to a single object...so they can appear in buy mode like an s2 object. This puts the creative texture work back in the hands of the creator. Maybe those devoted to CAS won't like it...but the flat textures everywhere in s3 grow wearisome so maybe some players will appreciate it.

This thread is going to turn into a Melaka catalogue. :snicker:

I've just put another two small sets up - a little nursery and three paintings. The special JS recolors up top work on the nursery too, of course.

Image

Image

Hope there are still some Sims 2 players around who can use these.

And, OM, even though I don't exactly understand the trickery and issues of Sims 3 creating, I know one thing for sure: There will always be people who wants to download your stuff. Always! No matter the technicalities your work is always so good that no simmer with a sense of aesthetics can keep their hands off it. :D

:jawdrop: :yay: :swoon: :cloud9:  :!: 8)

This is gorgeous! Finding each addition to this wonderful set is such a joy. Melaka has got to be my favorite set of yours, although truthfully it is very hard to call one of them my favorite; they are all so perfect.

I love all of the paintings and recolours as well. I don't know how you always manage to find such perfect artwork for your sets, but there are never any I don't want to use. So versatile, especially with the frame recolours, and always easy to find a place for in my sims' homes.

"Hope there are still some Sims 2 players around who can use these." Seriously? Your humility is astounding, because not only can I "use" the wonderful things you create, but I look forward to them, and check your site often to make sure I don't miss anything. It is always such a treat to find something new.

Thank you so much for the nursery and the gorgeous artwork. I can't wait to see your set of Spanish/Southwestern build items that is upcoming; I am sure it, too, will be my "favorite".

Many thanks, friend! :squeeze:
